In re Please Donate to Elective Surgery Fund:
I actually passed the screenings and whatnot and got my commander’s approval to get FREE Army-type PRK eye surgery (which freaks me out less than Lasik) via German-type doctors and robots, but then they sent me to Israel (which was pretty damn cool), and now Iraq (which is…less cool), so living without myopia thanks to the magic of a "L.A.S.E.R." is going to have to wait.
PRK is far more terrifying than LASIK…they scrape your cornea off for PRK. It takes a month to grow back.
But they DO grow back. This seems less frightening than having eyeball flaps that could fly loose at any moment.
