Benchmade Model 42S semi-serrated Bali-Song

I bought another Benchmade Model 42S Bali-Song. I didn’t bring my other one to Iraq with me; I’ve been carrying a Spyderco Spyderfly instead.

As butterfly knives go, the Benchmade is superior to the Spyderco in every way except one: The Spyderco has a pocket clip. This is kinda important when you’re in the Army, because your shit will fall out of your Goddamn pockets at the most inconvenient times, guaranteed, and often without any opportunity for retrieval.

Knives.

The Benchmade does comes with a belt sheath, shown on the left side in the above photograph, but a sheath is quite a bit less convenient than a pocket clip. But I’m willing to make do since, like I said, the Benchmade is superior to the Spyderco in every other respect. Most notably, the Spyderfly’s leaf-shaped blade is very impractical, and quite a bitch to sharpen.

Also depicted are the Boker Mini-Magnum I mentioned earlier and this great folding box cutter. The only thing I don’t like about the boxcutter is that the thumbstud isn’t positioned quite right for proper leverage. It’s a useful knife to carry in garrison, or any place that has fascist blade-length restrictions, but it’s not so good for heavy use. Also pictured for no reason is my bayonet.
